Hillbilly Elegy Book Discussion
October 17 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Have you read this gripping story of growing up in Appalachia? Join your friends and neighbors to discuss your thoughts on J.D. Vance’s memoir. The point and purpose of the book discussion group is to bring us together as a community to share something we can all find a common ground in; to discuss our views and thoughts and learn about our neighbors, and their experiences and motivations; and start to work together to become a more cohesive society and to recognize the commonalities that link us all.
Vance’s book is a memoir about growing up in Appalachia, but the story extends beyond the experiences of his own family, and sheds light on the Appalachian culture and its struggles.
“Hillbilly Elegy” is a NY Times #1 best seller, a USA Today best seller, it is being adapted into a screenplay by and to be directed by Ron Howard, and was featured in a commercial starring Oprah Winfrey. It is critically acclaimed and a page turner.
