Bike Trail Sunset Photo Safari

Enjoy a pleasant ride on the C&O Canal or the Great Allegheny Passage with friends and take pictures. We will gather
on Saturday April 2 at 4:00pm with your bikes ready to go.
Going south on the C&O Canal riders can view wonderful vistas of historic Washington Street and its historic buildings. You will also view wildlife in and around the Potomac River. Traveling about 5 miles south you can see ponds, birds, turtles, Blue Herons, and the historic Evitts Creek Acqueduct.
Going north on the Great Allegheny Passage you will breath taking views of Cumberland and the historic Iron Bridge along Wills Creek, with Haystack Mountain on the left and Wills Mountain on the right forming the Narrows. At mile 4 you will see the historic Bone Cave where bones of some extinct mammals were found in 1912 and taken to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. At mile 5 you will see Helmstetters Curve, a 180-degree horseshoe curve in the trail.

Around 5:50pm start returning back to the Allegany Arts Council Building. You will sit with a member of our staff and select a few photos to share with the group. Then sit back and relax and enjoy the shots of the day. We would love to hear your comments on your shots and others as well. The Photo Safari will be a great time to enjoy time with friends on our local bike trails. Walkers are also welcome to take part in the Photo Safari.
